Why do you exist? What is your purpose? Why are you here?
These are big, and often scary, questions to ponder, particularly with regards to your work-life.
Yet, we spend half our waking hours each day at work, so it makes sense to make them meaningful. The best part is, you don’t need to wait for others to give you permission to bring your why to work. You can start right where you are, right now, no matter where you work. I call this BYO Purpose.
In this course, in 7 steps and 7 lessons, I’ll show you how to follow my proven path to purpose. You’ll learn how to explore your own purpose, write your own purpose statement, plan a project to bring it to life and pitch your project to your manager.
Mary manages the local branch of a bank that is close to her home. She generally enjoys her job and loves her team but has been feeling increasingly restless and like something is missing, that she's not doing work that matters. While she wants to keep the security of a good job and a stable income, she's wondering if she should leave and work for a not-for-profit or start her own business.
Through doing The Purpose Project Course, Mary is able to name her purpose “to bring financial literacy to refugee women”. She wants to take on a project that utilises her banking skills, her passion for teaching and that makes a difference to refugee women. She writes a simple plan and pitches it to her Regional Manager who is in full support.
Mary joins the board of a local charity supporting refugee women and becomes the treasurer. She also writes and teaches a ‘financial literacy’ course that is hosted for the women at the branch after hours. The project gains coverage in the local media and brings in more support from other local community groups. Mary stays at the bank and eventually helps lead and coach other people in her team to create their own purpose project.
Why Do The Purpose Project Course?
Pablo Picasso said "the meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." It seems that us humans are hard-wired to live a life of meaning but that many of us have never fully explored our gift. This course has been designed to help you unearth your gift and bring it right into your workplace, no matter where you work.
Purpose can be defined as ‘doing something that is meaningful to you and that is of consequence to the world or to others.’ A sense of purpose helps you deal with the ups and downs of work and life. Purpose goes beyond mission, plans and goals. A clear purpose helps you set a goal you will actually achieve. It keeps you inspired, motivated and committed. It’s the thing that will get you out of bed every day itching to get to work.

Your Teacher, Carolyn Tate
“Writing is the only thing that when I do it,
I don't feel I should be doing something else.”
After 20 years in the banking world and 20 years in my own business including the last 10+ years as a writer, I’ve learnt that the grass is not greener on either side of the ‘employee’ or ‘self-employed’ fence. I’ve discovered that I could have been a banker AND a writer, that I didn’t need to leave my job to pursue my purpose.
My own highest purpose is “to write books that truly matter – to me and my readers”. I’ve written five books and am currently writing my next book. My other purpose (yes, we can have more than one) is “to bring purpose to life so together we can build a better world.”
That’s why I wrote The Purpose Project and am bringing this online course to you now. I want to help you fast-track your purpose and teach you what’s taken me more than 10 years to learn.
Today, I’ve sold over 7,000 copies of The Purpose Project and impacted nearly 100,000 people through my podcasts, speaking gigs, blogs and book tours as well as taught hundreds of people how to find their why at work.
